Installation Note 69361: SAS® Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4.1 - Release Notes

SAS Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4.1 represents the most recent release (October 2022) of this SAS Health and Life Sciences solution offering.

The 5.4.1 release introduces many new enhancements, specifically targeting

  • an updated and more secure user account password storage mechanism (which requires an account password reset)
  • an enhanced user experience within both the session editor and Data Viewer
  • an initial release of the new REST API

Note also that beginning with 5.4.1, clinical components can be enabled or disabled via a configuration option. The default option value is set to falseequating to clinical components being disabled. 

The enhancements are listed below.

 

SAS® Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4.1 Enhancements

  • User Account Security 
    • 5.4.1 introduces an updated and more secure mechanism for storing user account passwords
      • Note that the new password storage mechanism requires all users to reset their application account passwords upon entering the application for the first time; details are provided below via SAS Note Number 69310
  • Data Viewer
    • Cell Value Filtering - allows for the selection of a filter value using the current selected cell
    • Data Viewer Column Properties - adds a view that displays all properties for each column
    • Session Management - a new session is created when an action is attempted on a disconnected session
    • Data Viewer Styling - provides more viewable data and row selection that is more distinct 
    • Manage Columns - enables a single dialog box to perform multiple column actions
    • Previous Filters - adds the ability to select previously used filters
    • Dialog Box Enhancements - adds an 'In' dialog box for numeric typed columns; distinct value total added to both 'In' and 'Statistics' dialog boxes
    • Manage Filters - adds the ability to manage filters within a session. For example, you can select from list of previously applied filters or delete unwanted filters
  • Session Editor
    • Creating a Job from the session editor - adds the ability to create a job using the current program with one click
    • Find and Replace - redesigns the dialog box to occupy less screen space
    • Session Management - a new session is created when an action is attempted on a disconnected session
    • Check-in, Check-out, and Undo-Checkout - makes action available from within the session editor
    • Keyboard Shortcuts - adds new shortcuts plus a code editor toolbar button that displays available shortcuts
    • Compare Files - provides a new button in the code editor toolbar that allows users to compare an open file with the repository equivalent
  • Repository and Workspace
    • Repository Check-in - files can now be checked in without first marking them for addition
    • Navigation - makes the path field within the Repository and Workspace editable and supports cut and paste
    • Check-out Without File Copy to Workspace - adds a Repository toolbar option that allows files to be checked out without requiring a file copy to the Workspace
    • Check-out from User Workspace - adds Workspace toolbar options to support file check out from the user workspace
    • Checked-out Files View - options added to the Checked-out files view toolbar to allow a user to navigate to the repository or workspace location of the selected file
  • New Components
    • REST API - the new REST API is available beginning with SAS Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4.1
